Rachel Mann, Ph.D. is a healer and practitioner of shamanic energy medicine adapted in part from the indigenous peoples of Peru. In 2007, she left a tenured position at the University of Virginia as a professor and administrator to get formal training in the Four Winds Society Healing the Light Body School. Dr. Mann has had a private client healing practice all throughout Virginia and internationally for 10 years. She offers teachings on shamanism and Mother Earth mysticism, called the Great Medicine Wheel of the New Earth. She also offers a Program in Shamanic Energy Medicine for Healing Practitioners. Her teachings integrate the knowledge and wisdom of Native American spirituality, Buddhism, esoteric Christianity, and depth psychotherapy.
Dr. Mann's study of Native American spirituality started in the early 90s when she met Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo, Chief of the Green Mountain Band of the Aniyunwiwa (Cherokee) and founder and spiritual director of Sunray Meditation Society in Bristol, VT. She studied the esoteric spiritual practices offered by Venerable for 3 years and has continued since that day to be a practitioner on the Red Road.
Dr. Mann also is owner and founder of MettaKnowledge for Peace, a business providing consulting to organizations working with problems of violence and attempting to foster peace. Her clients and collaborators have included the Garrison Institute, the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, and Search for Common Ground, among others.
Her writings on violence, healing, and peace have been published in academic and popular journals and venues, including Spirituality & Health Magazine and Awakenings.
