Lisa L. Heuvel, Ed.D.

As a teacher, writer, and historian, I see leadership studies as a transformative pathway for self-reflection and growth as well as a lens for understanding our shared past and present. My passion is co-creating interactive learning communities with students, in which we recognize and encourage each other’s potential to make the world a better place. I am very happy to be a new member of the Atlantic University faculty and also teach as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Leadership and American Studies at Christopher Newport University. There, I focus on empowering students as the next generation of committed, ethical leaders. My background in public history includes educational, curatorial, and administrative positions at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. I have taught online and in the classroom on a national level for teacher professional development, as well as for pre-K-adult learners.
